I Survived Module 1!

*picture of the clinic with our bed set up and products all lined up*
I should make a pin that says that. : D Four weeks went by so quick!! Now I am going into Module 2 where I will proceed to be educated in the fine art of microderabrasion. Wow - that almost sounded intellegent ;p I am so excited and a bit nervous too. I will also be recieving paying clients. :o I have always told the students not to be nervous and how they have all the skills they need and they just need to be more confident. Ummm yea!! Let's see if I take my own advise. Good bye Miss Frannie it has been fun learning from you.
*Tiffany and Kim*
During makeup class I got to work on these two sweet girls (sorry about the lighting) It was so much fun - the project I gave myself was that - besides foundation - could I use the same colors and techniques on both girls and have them both look amazing. And they did - I was sooo proud of myself.

This is what I will be doing this weekend - besides the book work for chemistry my dreaded nemisis - I am going around doing makeup on friends and my little angel for my project. They can come to the school but I wanted to get pictures of them Glamour Shot style. You know with props and standing outside (for the lighting) so when I get pictures I don't have a file cabnet in the back ground. :o I know what you are thinking but Roxanna isn't your project due is 3 weeks and you would be correct but to get started now means that I can do all the pictures and revisions for my portfolio. See this is something that high school Roxanna would have never done. To do a project so far out would have been unheard of. But this is a project that I'm really excited about. So maybe I will be able to get more than the recommended 6. I am having a problem with evening looks - I don't like to tart up people so this is a challenge for me.

Shabbat Shalom

He has told you, O earthling man, what is good. And what is Jehovah asking back from you but to excercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God?

3 Weeks Behind Me and 1 Week To Go

My anatomy test went very very well : D  And yes the teacher did hold up my flash cards for the whole class to see *blushing* I draw like a three year old ;p  This week was extractions - which are harder to get out than one thinks - and lash and brow tints - now that was tons easier to do on someone else than it looks. I'm very clausterphobic and I truely dispise getting this procedure done but in the true spirit of commodery I am now sporting cool blue black lashes - which by the way not a living sole - including my Mr - has told me how totally rad they are. And yes they are totally rad ; D
So I bet you won't guess what I was doing this weekend. If you said relax or go to the movies ... you are incorrect. But if you said study ... well step up and claim your prize. I am in the final week of Module I - which I will learn face waxing. Sounds fun right? Along with turning in my workbook, review questions and glossary words for the last 2 chapters; I also get to study for Mod I final, AZ laws and protocol book. *YIKES!!* At least my makeup class project (which I will share pictures of) will be due the 2 week of Aug - which is right after our summer break. Thank goodness. I will miss being in Mod I - which we are very much protected - to Mod II which is like going from elementary to high school. Hey! I like being in kindergarten - milk and cookies and lots of love and attention ROCKS! - high school was scarry and there was never milk and cookies there :( But at the same time I'm excited to get to the more advanced procedures - of course until it is time for those projects and tests to be due ;p
And for those of you who are visiters of Dragonfly On My Finger via facebook smi-a.com  Welcome! I encourage all of you to please make an appointment and tour the campus and meet everyone.  You won't be disappointed.

How Blessed I Truely Am...

...to have my Mr Wonderful in my life. Everyone knows the passage of the "Proverbs Capable Wife" I think there should  be one for husbands. A Wonderful husband, he is far more precious than clean water; he rises up early and works hard all day for his family without any qualm, he comes home at night with pizza and a warm smile; he supports his family any way he can; he is a man who takes care of the home and family with great ease and who can lay his head down at night knowing that he is very much loved. My beloved was on a business trip for four very long days (it is one that you need to get invited to - which he absolutely deserves)  and I missed him sooo much. He is such a part of who I am that I feel a little displaced when he is not around. I am not a wife who needs her husband's full attention - I just like breathing the same air as he *that's not too weird is it?* I am content to be reading a book while he is watching the football game or baking cookies while he plays on the computer. I just genuinly like him: his humor, his scent, his wonderful cooking, even the dorky way he laughs when something is extremely funny and above all the way he always makes me feel adored every single day for 16 fab years. *Sigh* My wish for my daughter is that she would have a husband worth her feeling this way about. Welcome home sweetheart : D

Shabbath Shalom

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon and the dragon and its angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabitaed earth; he was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him.
Revelation 12:7-9

A Cult Classic

The next book I'm reading is the cult classic "The Werewolf of Paris" by Guy Endore. Which was 1st published in 1933 but was adapted in a movie by Hammer Studios' "Curse of the Werewolf" in 1962. The book is about a man who thinks he, well, might be a werewolf. I've read some summaries of this book and it sort of reminds me of the love/tragic/horror story of Count Dracula and Elizabet. I think this novel will make a good escape from the drudgery of my school books.
Hey guys you do know I am going to have to check out the movie - right?

Two Weeks Down....

and something like 23 more weeks to go. Now that I am starting to get my footing it is getting easier - not like the program is easier, just that my allotted time is spent more efficiently. I'm a HUGE efficiency person. If it's not efficient - toss it and change how you do things. Have you ever seen the original movie "Cheaper by the Dozen" about the Gilbreth family. I'm not that bad - maybe if I was given more free reign on my family I would be. *YIKES!-LOL* You need to watch it - it is a super cute family film.
This week is anatomy :o there is sooo much to learn in this chapter I can feel myself becoming more psychotic - I made flash cards and posters and am on youtube (which I am listening to now) to check out anatomy classes - just to get the information and understanding it into my small brain. And this is above the workbook, review questions and glossary work. I knew this was going to be one of my tougher subject, the other will be chemisty (which will be in another 3 weeks *tears*) So far all this study time has paid off - finally I'm becoming the student my mother always was praying for. LOL : D Now that I'm older I understand the importance of putting in that extra hour of study time or doing the extra projects. When you are young - you just want to just get done with the class and move on and do fun stuff. Now my idea of fun stuff is making flash cards - wow how my life has changed. : D
I have the cutest classmates -I have 4 of them. They are sooo much fun to have around! They are bright and have some crazy mad skills - which is probably why I push myself so hard. Just trying to keep up with them is exhausting. I think I need to boost my viatmin intake. LOL! I feel for my poor teacher Ms Fran - she has to put up with all our wacky brains. When I homeschooled I just had two students but she has 5 during the day and 12 at night - and you are grounded doesn't really work when they are not your kids. ;p Well I have A LOT of studying to do - so I think this weeks cookie choice will be chocolate chips. Hopefully the anatomy videos will not ruin my appetite cuz I make some mean choco chips cookies.

Finally - Done Reading

I am finally done reading this book! Yea!! LOL ;D I just had a hard time getting through it - the "club" finally got put together about 1/3 way into the book. The first part of the book just seemed to drag forever (I understand setting up the characters blah blah blah but seriously 1/3 of the book) because of this I kept putting the book down and reading other things. There is a lot of characters to remember (with the Alex Cross series it is him and Samson - that's it and a few minor people) this bloody thing had 4 girls plus all the other characters. I just couldn't keep the visual of everyone in my head - maybe I need to watch the movies to get some perspective. If you can get through the beginning it is has a good story line written in Patterson's extrodinary style.

Shabbat Shalom

Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

Movie Reviews

The Informant is a 2009 movie that is suppose to be a true story about Mark Whitacre (played by Matt Damon) who worked in developing for ADM and has moved his way into upper management and is unwillingly pressured into working as an informant for the FBI against the illegal price-fixing activities of his company. But as his incessant lies keep piling up, his world begins crashing down around him. The problem with this movie is that it seemed that his lies were ridiculously never-ending and about 3/4 of the way I found myself wanting to get up and get a book but I refrained.

Session 9 is a 2001movie about a group of asbestos cleaners who are commissioned to work at an abandoned mental institution. It is a project that should take 2-3 weeks to complete but in an effort to snag the deal - they are to complete the project in 1 week. As the movie moves on each person is being affected by not only the institute but also the stress of the job. Ok I got this movie because the cover looked super cool but to me I found it a little disappointing. I was expecting something with a bit more meat and all this movie had to offer is lettuce.

My First Week Of School

Wow! No wonder smart girls are mean. They get no sleep and when they do all they dream about is school work - so it's if they had classes for 12hrs. I knew the school I chose has a strong curriculum (smi-a.com go and check it out!)they believe in training you to be a great (not just good or passable - no great!) aesthetician. Which is what I wanted - I mean who wants to be mediocre? I'd rather be average in a great school than be a shining star is a lesser school. But during this holiday weekend when others were getting there hotdog grub on I was learning the life cycle of bacteria and all the stratums of the skin. But even though this week was vigourous I learned sooo much and have already done a few facials. This coming week along with learning extra facial treatments and brow/lash tinting, will also be makeup class. YEA!! I even got extra lashes and glue just for this class. I know - I'm just a tad bit overly excited. I'm off to bake some oatmeal cookies - you really don't expect me to study on an empty stomach do you? ;D

Happy Fourth of July

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.”
